Tirupathi Venkateshwara Temple

Tirupati Temple is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers of India. People come to the temple to worship Venkateswara, or Srinivasa or Balaji, incarnation of Vishnu, one of the trinities of Indian mythology. The shrine is located on the Seven Hills of the Eastern Ghats in Tirupati, in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The architecture of the main temple ofTirupati Temple is glorious and magnificent. The Vimana constructed over the sanctum and the Dhwajasthambam are gold plated. The temple received patronage from the Pallavas, Pandyas, Cholas, Vijayanagar rulers and later on by the Mysore king.
   


TheTirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) looks after the maintenance and administration of the temple. Apart from it the committee has to look after the welfare of the pilgrims, and sponsor several religious, charitable, social and educational institutions. TheTirupati Temple has been mentioned in the sacred Puranas. There are 108 holy temples in the Sri Vaishnavite tradition (Sri Vaishnava Divya Desams),Tirupati Temple is one among them. Krishna Deva Raya of the Vijayanagar Kingdom came to the temple 7 times to worship the Lord. TheVenkatesa Itihasa Mala and theVaraha Purana features a number of legends associated with the temple.



Tirupati Temple is said to be the richest Indian temple. Every day more than fifty thousand pilgrims come to theSri Venkateswara Temple. To manage the huge rush in the temple, the temple committee permits the pilgrims to enter through theVaikuntam Queue Complex, which is a series of halls leading to the temple.



Sri Govindaraja swamy Temple
Tirupati  is an ancient town associated with the Vaishnava Mentor, Sri Ramanuja , who  guided that one can get mukthi through only chanting  NARAYANA mantram that is  'Namo Naryana naya'. He founded Govindaraja swamy temple in 1130 A.D and started a small settlement round it and named it Tirupati. Several new shrines like kodanda ramaswamy temple, narsimha swamy temple shrine and kapileswara swamy temple were also built in different parts of Tirupati. Sri Govindarajaswamy temple, is very near to Tirupati railway station. The deity Sri Govindarajaswamy is in a reclining pose.He is considered to be Lord Venkateswara's brother.It has an imposing seven-storey 'Gopuram'. The temple came in for greater importance in 1506 A.D. during the rule of Saluva Dynasty of Vijayanagara.There are Sri Andal, Sri Parthasarathy and Sri Venkateswara in  the temple .
Sri Kodandaramaswamy Temple
This temple is dedicated to Sri Rama is situated within a distance of about 1 kilometer from the Tirupati Railway station. Opposite to this temple there is a Anjaneya swamy temple called as Bedi Anjaneya swamy.Inside the temple there is temple of Vishwaksena and Alwar. Sri Rama navami is celebrated here where the utsavam starts from Ugadi to Rama navami. The Temple was built to commemorate the visit of Sri Rama,Lakshmana and Sita to Tirupati, while returning from Lanka. According to inscriptions, the temple was built by one Narshima Mudalayar for the benefit of Saluva Narasahima in A.D  1480.

Sri Kalahasti temple        
SriKalahasti temple is located 36 km away from Tirupati. The inner temple is constructed around 5th century and the outer temple was constructed in the 12th Century.It is the abode of Shiva, from whose head, according to legend, the Ganges is said to flow.Kalahasti is the ‘Kailas of the South’.This temple itself is a great architectural piece of art.The inside pillars are fresh as theywere hundreds of years back because they were hidden from degradation by nature. SriKalahasti got its name because in days of yore a spider (sri), serpent (kala) and elephant (hasti) elephant worshipped Shiva with great devotion.

Kanipakam temple          
Sri Vara sidhi Vinayaka Temple which is in Kanipaakam in Irala Mandal, Chittoor District. It is about 11kms from Chittoor town. "Kani" means wetland and "Pakam" means flow of water into wetland.The 'swayambhu' idol (the self-manifested) of Lord Vinayaka emerged from the swirling waters in a well.Even today the idol is in the original well and the springs of the well are perennial and the eternal. During the rainy season, the holy water from the well overflows even today.
